
Luregn Schlapbach
Luregn Schlapbach is Professor of Pediatric Intensive Care at the University of Zurich and Head of the Department of Intensive Care and Neonatology at University Children`s Hospital Zurich, Switzerland, where he runs the research program on Sepsis, Infection, and Inflammation in Critically Ill Children. He maintains a close collaboration with The University of Queensland, Australia
Luregn`s research has focused on life-threatening infection and inflammation in critically ill children, including aspects such as epidemiology, biomarkers, and outcomes in this highly vulnerable patient group. He is interested in enhancing our understanding of why some children become critically unwell, and in developing better approaches to improve patient outcomes through clinical trials – for which we need strong international collaborations.
He has been serving on the Pediatric Surviving Sepsis Campaign, the Paediatric Sepsis Definition Taskforce, and the European Sepsis Alliance Steering Board
Last but not least, he is trying to learn Portuguese and admires latinamerican literature
